When it was being built, it was the largest contract job in progress in Portugal. Fluvial water works for channelling 3.3 km of one of the main streams of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The contract work encompassed the construction of walls, leaving the stream with a minimum cross section 30 m wide and 7 m high. Other works, such as the construction of 4 metal footbridges, one roundabout over the water course, and the reestablishment of roadways were executed in this contract job in the municipality of Ribeira Brava.
