AFAVIAS – Engenharia e Construções, SA, founded in 1981, in the municipality of Calheta, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, is at the genesis of the creation of what is now known as the AFA Group.

In addition to Madeira, where AFAVIAS is already a market leader, the company also operates in mainland Portugal, in the Azores archipelago and in Angola, where it holds a relevant position.

Currently with 1800 employees and a portfolio that exceeds 3000 projects, AFAVIAS is a national reference in its sector of activity. It has played an important role in the development of Madeira island for the last 40 years, having participated in a significant part of the public investment made by the Region, mainly in what concerns the construction of the main core of its roads.

In 2021, it was recognized as the ‘Best Company in the Construction and Real Estate Sector in Portugal’, by the EXAME magazine.
